Cardiff and Porth Nurseries

We have two nurseries; one is based in Cardiff Bay and is registered for 54 boys and girls, aged from 6 weeks to 5 years old. Our other nursery is based in Porth and is registered for 60 boys and girls, aged 6 weeks to 5 years.

Darling Buds Nurseries provide care for all races, religions and genders. The main language used is English, however, basic Welsh is linked to the nursery's topics, themes and activities.

We have qualified, experienced staff who will stimulate and encourage your child/children in their early years of development.

We aim to provide a happy and secure environment for the children in our care. All our activities are planned to help your child continue his or her social, emotional, physical, creative and intellectual development.

Below are details of the main groups operated within the nursery, how to register and the period leading up to leaving your child with us.

Registering your Child

If no immediate place is available for your child, we will put your name on the nursery waiting list. Before your child starts at Darling Buds Nursery, you are invited to visit us when you will be shown around all Nursery areas.

Settling-In

You will be invited to spend time in your child’s group in order to establish relationships with the carers before your child or children are left in the Nursery’s care. Your child will then be invited to stay (by arrangement) for a short period of time without you being present.

The First Day at the Nursery

When your child is enrolled at Darling Buds Nursery you are invited to stay for as long as you feel necessary in order to be satisfied that your child/children are settled. During this time all paperwork can be checked to ensure we have the correct contact number before you leave

Learning Activities at the Nursery

Learning Activities / Our Routine

At the nursery, we follow a structured daily routine. When with us your child/children will experience a variety of activities including art and craft, shared play, learn to recognise colour, shapes, letters & numbers, story time and singing. We also provide facilities for sand & water play.
